Nautical
While there is nothing “new” about the nautical trend for the summer, there is a reason we keep going back to it each year. It’s a classic! There is nothing that screams summer more than navy and white stripes and paired with simple structured pieces. This trend is perfect for that summer getaway you have been planning or just a casual brunch with your girlfriends. This style definitely skews on the preppy side, but that doesn’t mean it can’t work for our more edgy girls! Throw on an oversized military jacket over a striped dress to give the look more punch.
The best way to rock this look is to limit one piece to the nautical style. If you layer on too many sailor inspired pieces, it tends to look a bit costumey. No Chic girl wants that, trust us!
With this first look, we let the skirt do the talking. This Marc by Marc Jacobs, sailor inspired skirt is the perfect piece for a nautical look. To keep it fashion forward, we paired it with the neon pink Loft blouse. We love it casually paired with this jean jacket and a pair of sandals. If you wanted to make this look more work appropriate, switch out the jean jacket for a classic fitted blazer
We love the braided belt in this second look. The sailors knot style gives a slight nod to the nautical look without being too in your face. To keep the look casual, we paired this simple dress with a chunky necklace. To dress it up for a night out, pair this look with wedges or even red heels.
